Hello PCC family!
In 2008 we dedicated our newly built sanctuary to the Lord by taking a week to read the Scriptures out loud in the sanctuary from cover to cover. People signed up for half-hour increments and came to the sanctuary to read God’s Word out loud in an attitude of worship. This was modeled after the Old Testament where the people would gather at special times to hear the reading of the whole book of the law (Deut. 31:10-11; 2 Kings 22:2; Ezra 8:2-3,18).
Each year since then we read the Bible out loud together as a congregation during Holy Week. It takes about 75 hours to read the Bible out loud, and so we look for 150 participants to sign up for a half hour of reading each. It is an amazing undertaking as we give thanks to the Lord for his word by reading it back to him each year.
During the covid years we used online sign-ups so that people could read their portion of the Scriptures at home. The online sign-ups have proved fruitful as many people have been able to participate in the reading who would not have been able to otherwise. However, we also miss having people reading in the sanctuary. There is something especially beautiful having people reading God’s word consecutively in the sanctuary throughout Holy Week.
So, this year we will combine the two approaches. We will have online sign-ups for the Old Testament readings, and we will have in-house sign-ups for the New Testament readings. Of course, you are welcome and encouraged to come to the church during office hours to read your Old Testament passages in the sanctuary if you would prefer. The important thing is to read out loud in an attitude of worship knowing that we are all doing this together.
We need everyone’s participation to make this work. So please, sign up for an Old Testament passage online or for a half-hour slot in the sanctuary to participate in the New Testament readings. Let us give thanks and glory to our great God together for his precious Word!

Thank you for participating in Read Through the Bible during Holy Week with our church family. May God bless you in the reading of his Holy Word!
